Monró – Visual Art Sur

Monró

(1974, Cagua, Venezuela). High heels, hearts and flowers abound in the upbeat work of Monró, whose style is a fusion of influences combining retro, pop, and urban culture with feminine motifs.

Her work is an ongoing exploration of color and her distinctive palette is characterized by primary or electric tones that seem to burst off the canvas. Monró also works with digital art, installation and drawing and has recently applied her designs to products such as cups, handbags and clothing.

After studying Photography, Scenography, Sculpture, and Photographic Lighting for Movies at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in Spain, the artist progressed to her BA degree in Fine Art at the Armando Reverón Fine Art University Institute, which she followed up with a Postgraduate in teaching at Nueva Esparta University in Caracas.

Her work has been exhibited widely in Venezuela and her resumé features a number of solo exhibitions.
