Antonio Evies
(1965, Cambural, Venezuela) is a painter and poet who lives and works in the state of Lara, a region of picturesque, but arid, rolling hills in the west of Venezuela.
Evies is profoundly influenced by his surroundings and it is no surprise that landscape and a strong sense of environmental responsibility permeate his work.
Bold colors and strident compositions also characterize Evies’ figurative style as he transcends his immediate reality to create vivid images that transport the viewer to other realms.
Evies studied at the Martín Tovar y Tovar Fine Art School, as well as taking courses at the Armando Reverón Fine Arts University Institute in Caracas and studying alongside a range of renowned artists.
Evies has over twenty years experience exhibiting his work and recently took part in shows in Panama, United States, Honduras, Brazil, and Bolivia.
His work has been acquired by numerous public and private collections in Spain, United States, Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, Costa Rica.
