Visiting Artists Wrap Up Week at King

Three renowned artists from Venezuela have spent the past week working with King students during art classes in all three divisions.  Margaret Salazar (above), a painter whose works are characterized by a playful yet contemplative style, spent Monday morning in Connie Nichols Advanced Art 1 class painting with students and exploring personal creativity.  Solange Salazar (below), an artist who works in a variety of different media and materials, spent the same morning in Ran LaPolla’s Advanced Art 1 class creating collages with everything from newspapers clipping to sticks and beads. And on Wednesday morning Angel Mieres (bottom), a painter whose vibrant works explore natural motifs, worked with the LS students blending colors and turning plain white paper into works of art.

The artists’ visit was made possible through the kindness of King parents Nora Ellis-Ochoa and Sarita Hanley. This was a wonderful collaborative effort and a generous gift from the artist’s of Venezuela.
